Assemble your squad and find the right players for your team. Every position has different requirements, and every race comes with its own strengths and limitations.
But numbers do not tell the whole story. Alongside visible abilities, every player also has hidden traits that influence their actual performance and behavior. What looks like a bargain may develop into a star player, or turn out to be an expensive mistake.
At the Slave Market, you buy and sell players, compare candidates with your existing squad, and keep an eye out for exceptional talent. Some offers are predictable. Others are a gamble.
Develop your players
Set individual training priorities and decide how hard you want to push your players.
More intense training can lead to faster progress, but an exhausted or injured player will not help you much on the next matchday. Visible abilities can be improved deliberately, while hidden traits require you to judge your players through their performances and training reports.
Manage more than just a team
A successful manager has more to worry about than the starting lineup.
Invest in your infrastructure and develop your club. Upgrade your team quarters, training ground, and other facilities to create better long term conditions for your squad.
Your stadium can grow as well. Increase spectator capacity, improve the stands, pitch, and moat facilities, and create additional advertising space. Even the type of playing surface can affect your home matches. A well maintained pitch benefits different players than muddy or hard ground.
Set ticket prices, keep an eye on maintenance costs and stadium revenue, and gradually turn your home ground into an arena worthy of your sporting ambitions.
Keep your finances under control
Sporting success alone does not pay the bills.
Manage ongoing expenses, take out loans when necessary, or invest surplus capital. If you are willing to take greater risks, there are opportunities for that too, with correspondingly pleasant or unpleasant consequences.
At the Trading House, you can buy and store merchandise, then sell it at prices you set yourself. Demand, sporting success, and your pricing strategy determine whether business thrives or your warehouses stay full.
And of course, there is also a Betting Office. Nobody ever said a respectable sports manager had to make money from sport alone.
Not every decision has to be sporting
Sometimes you need to be a good coach. Sometimes a good businessman. And sometimes a visit to the Tavern might help.
There you will find opportunities that would probably trigger a parliamentary inquiry in a conventional sports management game: team parties, dubious offers, brawls, and ways to influence upcoming matches.
In Seven Rukks: Pit, Profit & Glory, your lineup is not the only thing that determines how a matchday ends.
And then comes matchday
