This cookbook takes inspiration from the ingredients and production buildings in Rise of the Merchants. We selected medieval dishes that the people of the game’s world might enjoy, from poorer townsfolk to the Count and his guests. The recipes are inspired by German, French, Italian, and English medieval cookbooks such as Le Ménagier de Paris and the Liber de Coquina. These books often offered cooks broad guidance rather than precise, step-by-step instructions like recipes today. Most recipes in this collection are straightforward and take little time to prepare. Some can also be made faster by using modern shortcuts. For example, you could use ready-made shortcrust pastry instead of making it from scratch.
