Take on the role of a train driver and railway operator, control locomotives, form train consists, transport freight wagons, and complete tasks at sidings, stations, and railway routes.
Railway Shunting
Shunting is the core of the gameplay. It involves precise wagon movement, forming train sets, and operating station tracks. Players will perform tasks typical of work at sidings, freight stations, and industrial areas.
Your duties will include coupling wagons, placing them on the correct tracks, assembling consists, and preparing trains for further routes.
Freight Transport
Freight transport plays an important role in the game. Players will move wagons between logistics points, industrial facilities, terminals, warehouses, and sidings.
Each transport task will require proper preparation of the train, choosing the right locomotive, and completing the job efficiently. It is not just about driving from point A to point B, but about managing the entire process of railway logistics.
Roadmap
The game is being developed in stages, with future updates adding new locomotives, wagons, scenarios, maps, industrial facilities, signals, electrification, AI traffic, and passenger transport. From simple freight wagon shunting, through siding and depot operations, to more advanced railway logistics — Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics lets players experience the atmosphere of everyday railway work.
Loading and Unloading
In future development stages, the game will be expanded with loading and unloading systems. Players will operate freight wagons at industrial facilities, ramps, warehouses, and transshipment points.
Loading operations will become an important part of logistics work — from positioning wagons in the correct place, through waiting for service, to preparing the train for further movement.
Locomotives
The base locomotive is the SM40. The game will feature diesel and electric locomotives inspired by real railways. Planned rolling stock includes machines such as the TEM2, SM42, LEW EL2, and EU07.
Each locomotive will have its own purpose — from light shunting, through heavier siding work, to operating trains on longer routes.
Freight and Passenger Wagons
Players will operate various types of wagons, including freight wagons designed for cargo transport and passenger coaches planned for later development stages.
A diverse rolling stock selection will allow players to create more advanced consists and complete tasks related to both freight logistics and future passenger services.
Railway Signals and Traffic Control
The game will include railway signals, shunting signals, and traffic control elements. Their purpose will be to increase realism and organize movement at stations and on railway routes.
The signalling system will be developed gradually to introduce more realistic railway traffic rules over time.
Electrification
Future updates are planned to add electric railway infrastructure, including overhead wires and electric locomotives. Electrification will open the way for new route types, tasks, and rolling stock.
This will allow the gameplay to evolve from simple diesel shunting to more advanced operation of electric railway consists.
Locomotive Depot and Servicing
Players will be able to use a locomotive depot, where rolling stock can be prepared, serviced, and configured. This feature will help capture the atmosphere of railway back-end operations and everyday locomotive work.
Mechanics related to servicing, vehicle selection, and rolling stock management are also planned.
Buying and Renting Locomotives
The game will include a system for buying and renting locomotives. Players will be able to expand their fleet, choose vehicles suited to specific tasks, and gradually increase the capabilities of their railway operation.
This will add an economic and logistics element to the gameplay, where managing rolling stock will be just as important as driving trains.

AI traffic is planned for future development stages to bring the game world to life. Other trains and railway vehicles will move around the map, creating a more realistic working environment.
AI traffic will require players to pay attention to the track situation, signalling, and traffic organization.

In addition to freight transport, passenger services are also planned for the future. Players will be able to operate passenger trains, stop at stations, and complete tasks related to transporting people.
This feature will expand the gameplay and allow players to experience the railway not only from the perspective of freight logistics, but also everyday passenger service.
